From BIG BLOB to Slim, Trim, Strong, Fit and Maybe Even Downright Skinny!

Did you DO your Skinny Mini Day?

Yesterday I declared a Skinny Mini day. It was harder than I thought because I didn’t plan carefully enough.

In order to eat 6 meals a day, you’ve got to have some healthy food in the house. I din’t have any healthy food other than a few carrots and lots of soup. I don’t think my Skinny Mini friends (models) would eat soup six times a day. So I had to go out and get some food supplies.

I didn’t join Curves, but I did get the Curves book. I was lacking some of the equipment for an at home Curves workout, so I improvised and did 30 minutes … it took me longer than the projected 20 min because I had to stop and read the instructions.

Went to a health food store and got some of those chewable calcium supplements because they look like more fun (chewing) than the just swallow kind.

Went on a 15 minute walk (for my extra activity) and that was good!

Tomorrow should be an easier Skinny Mini Day because I now have some of the stuff in place for it.

Please join in and share some of your Skinny Mini Day experiences!

Acting AS IF

What if you were to act as if you already were a Skinny Mini?

What do Skinny Minis DO that is different from the things BIG BLOBS do?

I have several Skinny Mini friends. This is what they do that I don’t:

  • They go to Curves (exercise studio) for 30 minutes, every day of the workweek. If you thought Curves was just for fat blobs, think again. Three of my skinny-mini friends go on a regular basis … you think I’d get the hint!
  • Skinny Mini’s say they are FULL after eating tiny plates of food (tiny according to me, huge according to them).
  • Skinny Mini’s eat many times a day … browsing. So 6 tiny plates of food a day instead of two GARGANTUAN plates and non-stop night eating.
  • Skinny Mini’s are active in many things (in addition to Curves)
  • Skinny Mini’s weigh themselves daily and immediately go into action if they gain more than two pounds.
  • Do you suppose that you would soon become a Skinny Mini if you were to start tomorrow and ACT AS IF you were already one?

    That means you would:

  • Do 30 minutes of exercise daily.
  • Say “OH my God, I am SO full” after eating a small serving of food (6 times a day).
  • Get active … go for a walk, golf, tennis, anything to move your body.
  • Weigh yourself and keep a chart … celebrate the losses (but not with food).
  • Pay attention to your health … get that health check-up you’ve been putting off, take your calcium supplements, eat high-fiber.
  • Tomorrow morning … Get up and declare it to be a SKINNY MINI DAY!

    Maybe Even Downright Skinny!

Amazon finally came through and is allowing Beta Testers to try out their new “bookstore” technology.

So I built a bookstore that focuses on MY favorite eating plan (aka DIET) books. I love the 40-30-30 diet … which is also referred to as the ZONE diet. So I’m featuring my favorite books in my new bookstore.

    Go and check it out!!

    The Power of Intention

“Intention is a force in the universe, and everything and
everyone is connected to this invisible force.”
    – Wayne Dyer

In the past few days I’ve been focusing on my “intention” (or lack thereof?) to lose weight. I’ve been drawn back once again to Wayne Dyers book The Power of Intention.

This book is a fabulous resource that focuses on our ability to create our lives using the energy of intention. I have tapped in the power of intention many times in my life, sometimes on purpose, most of the time by fortuitous accident. My mission over the past few years has been to utilize the power of intention via the “on purpose” route more often.

    Easier said than done.

Wayne Dyers book is a fabulous insight into utilizing intention to create events and things in our lives. He not only talks about the “theory” but also gives exercises and ways to actually implement the steps into your life.

Put the POWER OF INTENTION to work now.

    The Formula Zone

You’ve probably guessed by now that I’m a BIG fan of the 40-30-30 or ZONE diet because it is a relatively easy diet to stick to, and because there really isn’t anything that you can’t eat … as long as you keep your intake of carbs, protein and fat in balance.

I love the books on my shelf ( see my bookstore ) but was also excited to find this website:

It’s a zone eating plan that ADDITIONALLY focuses on low glycemic index foods. (I’ll cover this more in the next few weeks).

In additino to a Menu Planner, Shopping List, Progress Log, Discussion Groups this program also includes a Zone Meal Designer which allows you to adjust recipes to fit you. It also includes a Nutrition Label Analyzer and becasue so many family’s often share the same weight problems it has a Family Life Style section. It’s quite a powerful program that can be VERY MOTIVATING.

You should check out the success stories … and maybe even BECOME one!

    Go to THE FORMULA ZONE

Hope you like it as much as I do!!

    Intention to Lose Weight

I’ve been thinking about “intention” a lot in the past few weeks. I need to do some stuff I’d rather not do and I’ve noticed that most often I just don’t do it. It all has to do with “intention.” And carrying out our intentions is often a matter of how we “language” them.

    Take the following examples:

Lets do lunch sometimes … vs … Lets catch up over lunch. What about Friday at 12:30 at Frankos?

I’ll try to make it … vs … Absolutely, I’d love to help out. I’ll see you on Saturday bright and early!

    I should … vs … I MUST

Is losing weight just a thought or a should or is it REALLY your INTENTION?

Do you say, “I should lose weight” or “I am in the process of losing weight!”

Do you say, “I’ll try to get out for a walk tomorrow” or “Tomorrow at 8:00 AM sharp I am going for a walk, do you want to join me?”

There is power in INTENTION. Choose ONE thing you need to do today and INTEND it into reality.

Not Until I Lose Some Weight

    The Scale

How often have you told yourself that “I can’t do ____ until I lose some weight!”

You can fill in the blank with hundreds of things:

  • I can’t go to the party
  • I can’t buy new clothing (one of my all time favourites)
  • I can’t look for a new job
  • I can’t buy a bathing suit
  • I can’t date or look for a mate
  • I can’t
  • I can’t
  • I can’t
  • We deny ourselves many of life’s pleasures. AND, let’s be very clear on this …

    WE ARE PUNISHING OURSELVES.

If you don’t get yourself the new bathing suit, clothing that fits and looks good. If you don’t allow yourself to go to parties or to travel you are postponing your life. You have stopped living.

I have been overweight for years and years and for years I denied myself loads of things.

    Did denying myself work? NO

    Did PUNISHING myself work? NO.

    Is it working for you?

It’s time to start living NOW. Don’t put off looking as good as you can by buying clothing that fits. Don’t put off meeting that new guy. Don’t put off having a dinner party.

Get into action. Get into living your life. You may find that as you stop concentrating on “being fat” as you start doing more things and having more fun you might just start losing weight automatically. Hmmmmm

    Enjoy YOUR life NOW!
